Energy-efficient heat pump upgrade supported by Mass Save incentives

Mass Save® Rebates, Filed Right the First Time

A heat pump rebate is worth real money, and it is lost on technicalities more often than most homeowners realize. We complete the paperwork with you, accurately and inside the deadline, and stay with it until the rebate is approved.

Why Rebates Get Delayed or Denied

When a Mass Save® rebate falls through, it is usually not because anything was wrong with the heating system. It is because of paperwork. Homeowners who are left to handle the application on their own run into the same handful of problems again and again.

Filed after the deadline

Rebate applications have submission windows tied to your installation date. Miss the window and the money is gone, no matter how qualifying the equipment was.

Incomplete or mismatched paperwork

Model and serial numbers, AHRI certificate references, invoices, and pre-existing system details all have to agree with each other. One mismatch sends the application back.

Equipment that doesn't qualify

Not every heat pump on the market meets the program's efficiency requirements. Choosing the wrong model means discovering after installation that no rebate is coming.

Missing pre-approval or assessment steps

Some incentives require steps completed before work begins. Do the work first and the opportunity can close permanently.

Utility account details the form won't accept

Your utility account number has to be entered exactly the way the rebate portal expects it, and the expected format is not always the one printed on your bill. A number that looks right gets rejected with no useful explanation.

Nobody following up

Applications sit in review and stall on a question nobody answers. Homeowners handling this alone often don't know it's stuck until months have passed.

A small example of how specific this gets

A National Grid account number often has to be padded with two zeros at the end before the online form will accept it. That requirement is not printed on your bill, and the form does not tell you that is the problem. It simply refuses the entry, and a homeowner who has already spent an evening on the application assumes their account number is wrong.

There are a lot of small things like this. Individually none of them are hard. Collectively they are why rebate applications get abandoned halfway through, or submitted with an error that surfaces weeks later as a denial. We already know where they are.

Every one of these is avoidable. None of them are avoidable by accident.

How We Handle It

Plenty of contractors will tell you a rebate is available. Fewer will sit at your table and fill the form out with you. That is the part that decides whether the check arrives.

1

We check qualification before you commit

Before anything is ordered or installed, we confirm which incentives your home and proposed system actually qualify for, so nothing depends on a hopeful assumption.

2

We specify equipment that qualifies

We select systems that meet the program's efficiency requirements, so the equipment going into your home is eligible by design and not by luck.

3

We sit down and complete the paperwork with you

Not a link emailed after the job. We go through the application together, make sure every field is accurate and every supporting document is attached, right down to the utility account details the portal is fussy about, and confirm it before it is submitted.

4

We file on time and stay with it

The application goes in inside the required window, and we stay involved until the rebate is approved. If a question comes back, we answer it rather than leaving you to chase it.

Mass Save partner

Don’t Take Our Word For It

JBL Mechanical is enrolled in the Mass Save® Heat Pump Installer Network for residential and commercial ducted and ductless air source heat pumps. Mass Save publishes the participating contractor list publicly, so you can verify that yourself before you hire anyone, including us.

Search the Mass Save® Installer List

Mass Save notes that network contractors have provided proof of EPA certification, Massachusetts insurance, and completed heat pump installation training. They also note that listing alone does not guarantee the quality of any contractor’s work, which is why we would rather show you how we handle the paperwork than simply point at a badge.

Mass Save® Rebate Questions

Is JBL Mechanical really in the Mass Save® Heat Pump Installer Network?+

Yes, and you do not have to take our word for it. Mass Save publishes its Heat Pump Installer Network contractor list publicly. You can search it yourself at masssave.com and confirm we are listed before you hire us.

Why do Mass Save® rebates get delayed or denied?+

Most often for administrative reasons rather than anything wrong with the installation: applications filed after the deadline, model or serial numbers that don't match the supporting documents, equipment that doesn't meet the program's efficiency requirements, required pre-installation steps that were skipped, or an application that stalls in review with nobody following up on it.

Do you handle the rebate paperwork, or do I?+

We do it with you. We sit down together, complete the application, and check that every field and document is accurate before submission. You are never handed a form and left to work it out on your own, and we stay involved until the rebate is approved.

The rebate form keeps rejecting my utility account number. What am I doing wrong?+

Probably nothing. The rebate portal expects utility account numbers in a specific format that is not always the format printed on your bill. A National Grid account number, for example, often has to be padded with two zeros at the end before the form will accept it, and the form does not tell you that. This is one of many small technicalities we already know about, and it is exactly the kind of thing that stops people halfway through an application.

Which systems qualify for Mass Save® heat pump incentives?+

Qualification depends on the equipment's efficiency rating and on how it is installed, and the program's requirements change over time. We confirm what your specific home and proposed system qualify for before any work is scheduled, rather than after.

Do you offer Mass Save® help for commercial properties too?+

Yes. We are enrolled for both residential and commercial ducted and ductless air source heat pumps, and we handle the incentive process for business properties the same way we do for homes.

What if I already had a heat pump installed by someone else?+

Call us and we will tell you honestly whether there is still a path to an incentive. Some steps cannot be recovered once work is complete, and we would rather tell you that plainly than take your time on something that will not succeed.
